President Young visits Crosby, MS to view flooding damage and offer support

Dr. Jerry Young, the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (NBC, USA, Inc.) President and Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, MS made a trip to Crosby, MS to visit and discuss ways to extend support to the community in the aftermath of the August 2016 flooding.

The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. lists that one of her primary purposes is to promote home and foreign mission efforts. To that end, the NBC, USA, Inc. sent a check for $15,000 for the Crosby community. And Dr. Young brought a check for $5,000 from New Hope Baptist Church. These funds are being used to assist churches and communities with necessary supplies to help refurbish houses and churches. The NBC, USA, Inc. also provided additional resources, supplies, and labor for the recovery effort in the other areas of Wilkinson County. There are approximately 30 laypersons from across the United States that are actively working to assist in the recovery efforts on behalf of the NBC, USA, Inc.

Dr. Young and Pastor Matthew L. Canada the President of the Moderators division of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. walked through the streets and went into homes meeting with residents in Crosby. Mayor William Hall, Disaster Relief Coordinator Mrs. Aimee Chiovaro and Pastor Robert Scott, Jr. of Nathaniel Baptist Church shared concerns and insight to the problems they are facing at this stage of the recovery efforts. A very productive meeting was held with Dr. Young at the Crosby Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Bart Houston.
