NBC USA PRESS RELEASE

From the Desk of Rev. Dr. Jerry Young:

The Youth and Young Adult Auxiliary is powered up and running with the fire of youthful energy and exuberance. Believing that establishing a separate auxiliary would highlight the importance of our youth and young adults to the Convention, Dr. Jerry Young heralded the formation of the auxiliary during his Annual Address at the Mid-Winter Board Meeting in January of 2019. Although the coronavirus pandemic slowed the start of the newly formed ministry, the structure was built through 2021, and workshops and a strategic planning meeting have already been held in 2022. While the YYA social media platforms will not be launched officially until our Congress, our youth, young adults, and leaders have already been communicating throughout the country and abroad and have big plans. If your youth and young adults have not signed up, have them access www.nationalbaptist.com, click on the auxiliaries’ link, select Youth and Young Adult, and fill out the information form and email it as directed. You do not want your youth and young adults to miss out on the upcoming exciting educational, mission, worship, and fellowship events.

Greetings!  How Good the Lord Is!

I want to welcome you to the new Youth & Young Adults Auxiliary website! I am very excited about our team’s diligent work in making this next step into the immersive world of technology a reality.

I invite you to stay connected with us as we make our stamp in building this new social community.  As we continue to develop our technological platform, we’d like to receive your feedback on content that will strengthen your walk with Christ, share your walk with others, and be in a safe space to do so.

Soli Deo Gloria!
Dr. Marcus D. Davidson
President

The Youth and Young Adult Auxiliary is the newest—and youngest—
National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Auxiliary. The result of

our President’s God-given vision, Dr. Jerry Young heralded the formation of the auxiliary during his Annual Address at the Mid-Winter Board Meeting in January of 2019. Dr. Young believes that establishing a separate auxiliary shows the importance of our youth and young adults to the vitality of our denomination at the national, state, and local levels.

We are building on the solid foundation laid by our directors when the Young People’s Department was a division of the Woman’s Auxiliary. We are not throwing the baby out with the bath water, for we recognize that valuable traditions brought us over and through. However, “to serve this present age,” we have had to create a mash-up, updating some traditions and mixing in new ideas, new approaches, new methods. Acknowledging that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, we seek to engage our children, youth and young adults using methods that help them establish and grow in a relationship with our Lord and Savior. New methods, same gospel.

Children, youth, and young adults are invited to be actively involved in shaping and growing our auxiliary. We need you! Our adult leaders are here to guide and help implement your ideas and meet your needs. Through our teams, every age will be actively engaged in the auxiliary, both learning and doing. We expect you to be involved in every aspect of this auxiliary, taking advantage of opportunities to worship and learn more about Christ and to serve him by serving others.

We will come together in many different ways and locations for worship, education, mission, evangelism, and fellowship. As a team, we will stay connected using a variety of virtual platforms and social media and then gather to celebrate our great God at Congress, regionals, and on the mission field.
