Why Come to the Superintendents Conference?
What's in it for me?

We know the importance of teaching the Word of God in your church.  Join us as we examine the state of the Sunday School across America and identify strategies to have a strong and successful Sunday School in your church.

Many of our Sunday Schools are suffering – Sunday School has come to be seen as an option and not a necessity.  We want to assess and evaluate all of the Christian Education efforts that are going on in our National Baptist Family.  We are dedicating a “Year of the Sunday School”.  People need to emphasize the importance of Christian Education and training.  We need to be about putting the word of God vibrantly and victoriously in the hands of every National Baptist constituent.

Many leaders in the Congress don’t have an opportunity to participate in the Congress educational opportunities because they are otherwise occupied during the congress meeting – this is an opportunity for the leaders to be participants.

If you’re a Sunday School Superintendent – you’ll be able to hear what others are doing across the country.  We will be looking to develop model principles and practices to help develop and grow your Sunday School.  The model we are putting forth is how to be effective with limited resources and staff.  There will be something in it for everyone, whether the Sunday School is small or large.  It’s also an opportunity to focus on another area of interest than that which you are participating in during the Congress Annual Session – a chance to pursue another area of interest in a concentrated way and not have to spend a full week doing it and all the expense that goes along with that.

Won't you join us?  You'll be so glad you did!

A Message from the Desk of Congress President Waddles:

February 2013

We greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Many attempts have been made to evaluate our church Sunday Schools. While the official structure has thrived over the years, there has been much debate over whether we are building the church through effective Bible instruction that equips students for everyday life. We believe that strong Sunday Schools are vital in building strong churches that are built on the fundamental truths in God’s Word.

In a previous address, we declared the “Year of the Sunday School” where we focus our resources and efforts on training effective Bible teachers, administrators and superintendents so that we build our national body, by building our local church Sunday Schools. We need your help in this effort. We are asking that each church will send their superintendents and Sunday School administrators to this year’s Superintendent’s Conference. We will gather once again at the Baptist World Center in Nashville, Tennessee on March 22-23, 2013 and receive dynamic instruction that will encourage our teachers and administrators and provide them with tools and practices to build and structure an effective Church School. This year’s theme is: Be Transformed—Training Christian Educations Leaders and Teachers for the 21st Century.

My brothers and sisters I encourage each of you to stand with us and invest in the strength of your church by building your Sunday School. We live in troubling times, and must stand on the truth of God’s Word and equip our constituents to know and learn that truth. We can do this together, but it starts with YOU! Please go to the convention website for additional information: www.nationalbaptist.com.

We thank God for His divine direction in this endeavor, for the efforts of the Conference staff and we anticipate God’s blessings upon this gathering.

George W. Waddles, Sr., President
National Baptist Congress of Christian Education
