LETTER FROM PRESIDENT WADDLES

Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord, Jesus Christ. We thank and praise God for the gift of His grace in allowing us to gather together once again in our annual session. This year, we will gather in St. Louis, MO – “Gateway to the West” – June 18-22, 2012 for the 107th Annual Session of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Our Dean, Dr. Elliott Cuff, and his staff have crafted over 300 classes that will help delegates in their pursuit of being dedicated followers of Jesus Christ. We are excited about those classes and plans that have been put in place to ensure that we will engage in fellowship, study and worship that will give glory to our God.

Our Congress week’s structure continues to offer celebratory worship experiences and events that will uplift the body of Christ.  On our website, nationalbaptist.com under “Meetings and Events,” you will note the Congress of Christian Education with  a  menu  of  the  schedule,  registration  information,  how  to  register  online, housing information, as well as Annual Session highlights.  I would like to highlight these events and encourage your attendance and participation.

National Baptist Congress Partners with Habitat for Humanity

We thank our Convention President, Dr. Julius R. Scruggs, for giving us direction and permission to engage in this worthy endeavor. This year, the National Baptist Congress, in partnership with the St. Louis Host Committee and its chairman, Dr. Sammie Jones, will donate a house for a family in need. As we move toward the week of our Annual Session, we ask for your prayers and support for this awesome effort. You can join in this historically-groundbreaking event by helping us raise the
$65,000 needed to complete the project.

In acknowledgement of those in the National Baptist family who have donated funds to build this house, we will unveil a lasting memorial. If we can move together, in Solidarity with the Savior, and have 130 churches who can donate $500, this will help us complete this building project.

Congress of Christian Education Annual Session

The National Baptist Congress of Christian Education Annual Session is the education arm of the NBC, USA, Inc., and is responsible for teaching and training classes in every aspect of Christian Education. This meeting, attended by 30,000 delegates, is held each year in June at various locations throughout the United States.  A selection of more than 300 classes equip Christian education leaders with the necessary information and teaching techniques to fulfill their respective roles in their local ministries with excellence. The delegates may graduate or receive a Certificate of Progress after a prescribed program of study or simply take classes for general continuing education.  In addition to the national Annual Session, each state convention or local district may also be certified to sponsor classes and offer classes at other times throughout the year.

Married Couples Conference

Realizing that the delegates have needs that cannot all be addressed during the one week of study at the Annual Congress, each year the Congress offers a Married Couples Conference. This conference addresses the needs of and offers help to married couples of every age and experience from a Christian perspective.

The Super Superintendent’s Conference is specifically designed to reach Church School Superintendents, Directors of Christian Education, Leadership School Deans, and Christian Education Teachers.

Singles Conference

This Conference will challenge singles to be saved, single and satisfied with Christ. Dynamic worship and singing as well as motivational speakers will inspire singles to strengthen their walk with Christ.
