Rev. Charles Noble honored for 40 years of local ministry

NEWARK -- In 1969, the Rev. Charles W. Noble became pastor at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, but he planned to stay only a few years.



That was 40 years ago.



"There was a need here for what the Lord endowed me with," Noble said. "So I tried to fulfill that."



On Saturday, more than 100 friends, family members and members of his congregation gathered at John Gilbert Reese Center to celebrate Noble's 40th anniversary as pastor with speeches, music and prayer.



A native of Atlanta, Noble, 74, is the longest serving pastor in the history of the congregation.
