Outgoing Baptist President Urges Forward Progression

(September 13, 2009) - MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In his last days as president of the National Baptist Convention, USA, the Rev. Dr. William Shaw is being remembered as a leader of integrity and vision.



“There’s no question Dr. Shaw has been a tremendous leader with foresight and insight,†said the Rev. Dr. L.B. West, a Washington, D.C. minister, “It’s been a wonderful 10 years to see him walk in integrity and live in integrity.â€



In his final address to the annual conclave Thursday morning titled, “And Now,†Dr. Shaw challenged the incoming administration to face head on the challenges confronting the church.



The phrase “And Now,†he said, “conjures images of the past and creates expectations of the future.â€
