Southwest Region Youth Conference 2013 Informational Letter

June 10, 2013

Greetings Pastors, Directors, Counselors, Youth Workers, and Youth:

We are so grateful for all that God has done in the planning of the Southwest Region Youth Conference 2013, to be held in the beautiful city of Mobile, Alabama. The host pastor will be the Rev. Nelson Farmer, pastor of the Providence Baptist Church of Grand Bay, Alabama. The host district will be First Eastern Shore Baptist Association, where the Rev. Montgomery Portis, Jr. is the moderator and pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  The Mobile Marriott located on 3101 Airport Boulevard will be our headquarters hotel. The conference will start Monday, July 29, and will end on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

This year’s theme is “Solidarity with The Savior Through His Works” (Matt.5:16, John 10:32, Titus 2:14, and Hebrews 13:21). Please pray that God will continue to bless the conference, each pastor, youth director, conference worker, and all youth. These are some important items to remember for the success of the conference. Make sure that all youth brings their Bibles and notepads for class study. Please remind them to put their names and addresses in the front of their Bibles in case they are misplaced so that they can be returned.

Secondly, pastors, directors, leaders and chaperons, we ask that you refer to the Code of Conduct and discuss this in detail with your young people. For we know that we are representatives of Christ, so let us let our Light so shine and act according to His Word. Remember “Jesus Christ Only Always” in every aspect of our lives. Everyone is expected to be respectful of the conference purpose, Lifting the Name of Jesus Christ, and mindful of the theme of the conference.

The following classes will be offered: Ministers, Spiritual Development of Young Workers (Adults), Building the YPD (Directors, Counselors, and Youth Workers), Rites of Passage, Shining Lights for Jesus (ages up to 8), Work the Works with Jesus (ages 9-11), Working Out His Will (ages 12 - 14), Seminar 1: The Abstinence Way, (ages 15 up), and Seminar II: The Jesus Team Reporting for Duty (ages 15 up). Information for other activities will be posted on the web site. The registration form will be on the web site and will have the fees for the Prayer Breakfast and Rose Pageant Reception. These fees must be sent in with your registration. There will be no tickets sold on the days of these events.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
–Colossians 3:23

In the Name of  The Alpha and Omega,
