By Dr. Randy Vaughn, Director, Disaster Management Office | August 22, 2011
URGENT PLEA to all State Presidents, National Leaders, Pastors and Members of the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc.
The United States reports that over 11 million people are in need of food and shelter-the bare necessities of life. The refugee camps that were designed to house 90,000 now house over 400,000 men, women and children. Tens of thousands of refugees have fled south-central Somalia in hopes of finding food at camps in Ethiopia, Kenya and in Mogadishu, the Somali capital. Many of the children suffer from extreme malnourishment and other medical ailments. Additional reports reveal that a thousand refugees enter the camps on a daily basis, trying to escape the famine and the marauding of the rebels.
