National Baptist Criminal Justice Commission Luncheon

The Second Annual Criminal Justice Luncheon will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at the Kansas City Convention Center.  Rev. Dr. Frank E. Ray, Memphis TN, will be the keynote speaker.  The luncheon is open to the public and is presented in conjunction with the 136th Annual Session of the National Baptist Convention, Inc. 


Luncheon Reservations

Reservations for the Second Annual Luncheon may be purchased in advance or on the day of the event with a $25.00 donation. Proceeds will benefit the National Baptist Criminal Justice Commission’s work to support individuals, families, victims, and their communities that are working their way through the Criminal Justice System through ministry.

Criminal Justice Information and Resources

September 6, 2016 - Kansas City Convention Center, 9:00 am until 12:00 pm

Organizers are expecting 12 ministries that work with people impacted by the Criminal Justice System to provide counseling and resource information beginning at 10am to noon. The Lunch begins at noon.  There is no cost for those who come for information or Associations that wish to set-up booths for this affair.

Dr. Harold Simmons, National Commissioner of the National Baptist Criminal Justice Commission and Luncheon sponsor, Prison Fellowship Ministry Inc., stated “The National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. and the National Baptist Criminal Justice Commission is pleased to hold its Annual Luncheon in Kansas City as we remain committed to helping those in need to restore and uplift the lives of men and women and their families. We invite exoffenders, families, the law enforcement community, victims of crime and the general public that are experiencing challenges due to involvement with the Criminal Justice System to come to the Convention Center on September 6, 2016. Information regarding employment, legal services, mental health, and much more will be available." Organizers are expecting 12 associations that work with people impacted by the Criminal Justice System to provide counseling and resource information beginning at 10am to noon.

Dr. Simmons said, "Our research data indicates that after a decline in the correctional population, about 1 in 35 adults in the United States was under some form of correctional supervision at year end 2013 and about 1 in 51 adults were on probation or parole at year end 2013.”
