Rev. Dr. Julius Scruggs named to NAACP national board

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Dr. Julius R. Scruggs, 68, senior pastor of Huntsville's First Missionary Baptist Church and president of the National Baptist Convention, has been elected to the National Board of Directors for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

He joins the board of about 60 religious, business, political and civic leaders from across the U.S. The board meets four times a year, with the next meeting in July.
