Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, Jr. Continues Legacy as New Pastor of First Baptist Church of Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee—The Reverend Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, Jr. of Knoxville Tennessee has been selected to serve as the 20th pastor of historic First Baptist Church Capitol, downtown Nashville, Tennessee. His father the late Reverend Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, Sr. was the 16th pastor of this prominent historic African American Church.

Dr. Smith has over 30 years of religious and business leadership experience. He currently serves as Pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. and will become the Pastor of First Baptist Church Capitol Hill in October 2010.  His accomplishments include the establishment of two church-related academies, one of which is pre-school. The Reverend Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, Jr. is the Executive Director of the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., the Nashville-based publisher of Christian church literature.
