National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

Mission:

The mission of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. is to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, and healing.

Objectives and Corporate Purposes:

1. To unite National Baptist churches, district associations, and state conventions in Christian evangelism so as to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, and healing;

2. To promote home and foreign mission efforts;

3. To encourage and support Christian education;

4. To publish and distribute Sunday School and other Christian literature,music, and other works of art and religious expression; and

5. To engage in any other endeavors deemed fitting and proper in order toadvance the cause of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

This Initiative that the Convention is undertaking has been in the making since 2007.  It is designed to substantially improve the effectiveness of our auxiliaries, boards, commissions and ministries. 

Our objective is to implement procedures and processes that align the relationships and work of the auxiliaries, boards, commissions and ministries to improve communication, coordination of efforts and resources, and collaboration in planning and implementation to achieve the Convention's Mission and Objectives.

We want to build a foundation upon which the Convention can become more effective, responsive and efficient to meet the needs of our members and to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the 21st century and beyond.

Major Components

The major components of the Initiative create structure and processes by which the existing auxiliaries, boards, ministries, commissions and independently incorporated entities of the Convention can communicate, coordinate and collaborate on their activities to

  • achieve the best use of our resources,
  • decrease redundancy and working at cross-purposes, and overall
  • improve our service to our members and other constituencies. 
The Councils

We are implementing a council structure that will include representation from the various entities of the Convention, and serve as the platform from which we may communicate and discuss our plans, coordinate our work and collaborate with one another on activities of similar concern.  The chart below illustrates the structure of the councils and their relationships with the existing entities of the Convention.
